Gill is immersed in preparations for the 25 new Mahima Niwas ("House of Glory") arrivals; as soon as the building is finished (this has been going on for ages!). As well as helping Basanti with the house parenting for the new girls on arrival, (they are from remote tribal areas, and will need delousing, deworming, teaching cleanliness etc.), she is now tutoring three of the MH girls who need extra tuition to get them through their English & Maths basics.
Roy is involved for the moment with helping improve teaching techniques in the School; rewards, quality assurance, introduction of more science practicals in the lower school, using computers as teaching resources (not highly used even though the system has been in existence for some years), putting resources onto the network and dealing with security threats, along with checking the English (for the teachers) of some work already marked.
Later we are looking forward to seeing how the Literacy is progressing with the 60 or so students who have stuck with the scheme since its introduction in January. Some who progress well will become students in the school; one lad has already been sponsored to do so.
