We are in Nepal in the city of Lalitpur near the capital Katmandu. We’re about 100 miles from Mount Everest but we can’t see it – too many clouds & too far away. We need a good storm! The hills are very lovely here.
The 13 orphan kids here are a lovely lively bunch who respond & laugh freely – politely “hoovering up” any attention they are given, bless em. One girl (8) when 2 years old saw her dad killed with a knife by her uncle. One of the lads (5) watched his mum plummet from a tree as she collected fruit. Another's dad was killed by a soldier. Other harrowing and heartbreaking stories were revealed by the Church Pastor in a quiet voice after the children have gone to bed. They respond with gratefulness to the love of Jesus.
Be grateful for your parents & your children … love them & pray for them!
Tonight we taught them “what time is it Mr Wolf”. & we played outside on the grass for an hour. We’ve fallen in love with them (predictable!) & been invited to come back next year … maybe this is it …
Gill has learned some Nepali phrases & is in front of me with it! So I’ve brought a Nepali newspaper & gonna try to practice the Devengari script.
The plane ticket from KTM to Nepalganj is booked. Getting really excited about seeing our wonderful family, & beating Dambar & Jenny (formidable team!) at badminton …
